Marko Hansen
Inventor. Innkeeper. Actor. Writer. American Dreamchaser. The self-described "Rodney Dangerfield of Fitness," and the most upbeat person in any room.
Marko Hansen is a native Tucsonan who spent a dozen years in California and Oregon before travelling extensively throughout Australia and Asia. As a University of Arizona student, he got his first taste of professional theatre when he was cast as Pablo Gonzalez in the 1983 Arizona Theatre Company production of A Streetcar Named Desire. He later appeared in two game shows, including Bob Eubanks' Infatuation, and performed his multi-character one-man play, American Dreamchasing: with Spirit-Drive! NOT Ego-Jive, at the 2000 Melbourne Fringe Festival and the 2002 Adelaide Fringe Festival.
He has always enjoyed challenging fitness quests: a 49-mile Grand Canyon rim-to-rim-to-rim hike in 24 hours, boxing in the 1987 Diamondback Invitational Tournament, running the 1989 LA Marathon, and jogging 50 miles from Redington to Benson in under 12 hours.
A strict vegan, Marko occasionally blogs about unlabeled GMOs in our food supply. He got married in 2008 on his 50th birthday, though he was actually 49 at the time of the wedding because of the 15-hour time difference between Tucson and Kaifeng, China.
He was granted his second US utility patent in December 2023, over 29 years after his first, for a dual-flywheel, vertically-disposed, stationary climbing bike. Today he is the owner and innkeeper of the Green Satori Inn, just 20 minutes south of Ithaca, NY, in the Finger Lakes, with his wife and 10 cats.
Finding THE ONE.
It blows my mind sometimes (only if I think about it) that I have 34 years out of my 68 year life fully invested in bringing a total body cardio fitness machine to market, that seemingly no one has even heard of or even knows or cares anything about in mid-2026. Even 1% of 1% of America (34,200?) is still about 20-30 times more people than there are folks that are estimated to have even heard of "CycleClimber." Sad. Surreal. But it just means there's work to be done. I have unfinished business. All I need to do is find THE ONE. This is the true fun. The road to disruption of an entire industry. The ultimate game-changing, home fitness breakthrough.
If I could hand all 34 years of my hard work that I've compiled for this cardio-machine start-up dream chase to any two people?! Lucas Bean and/or Guy Kawasaki! They are both entrepreneurial brainiacs, with an endless abundance of eclectic acumen, as well as a built-in, creative, outside-the-box, start-up mindset. I consider these two high-functioning executives among the best start-up geniuses on the planet for any kind of business or media advice. They are both a rare breed indeed.
Sadly, the start-up status quo in the USA in 2026 is comprised of AI driven data, with template thinking, and an overemphasis on focus group data. But when you have a product or idea that must be experienced (hands on) to fully understand? Focus group obsession is not nearly all-encompassing enough to make an educated assessment on a potential disruptor to the home fitness industry. But I do respect the AI data. Wow! The A+ praise I got from a recent AI analysis on a single still picture was beyond any praise I could have fathomed.
Imagine for the past one third of a century, you've had with you a dual-flywheel home fitness climbing machine that you truly, wholly believe with every cell in your being is the most efficient total body cardio machine on the planet. Imagine giving your absolute best at contacting all the major players in the fitness industry going back to 1993, and now, in 2026, with a new twist to the invention, yet not one person in the field of fitness has even given a single hands-on minute.
Being the Rodney Dangerfield of Fitness is not so bad, because there is nowhere to go but up, thus motivating me to never quit and to always work harder.
